Academic standards
Setting admission standards
The students enrolled in Jiangxi University of Technology, except for international students, are those who belong to the unified examination organized by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. They include undergraduates and junior college students, who are required to take the college entrance examination, also called National Unified Examination for Admissions to General Universities and Colleges. There is only one admission standard for undergraduates, which refers to the score of college entrance examination; for junior college students, there are several admission standards, like Independent enrollment to junior colleges, college entrance examination and academic examination, and The Academic Test For The Ordinary High School Students etc., according to the policies of different provinces, which are all national examinations. After students enter the University, the "five loves" education (love for the Party, love for the country, love for the University, love for the family, love for oneself) is integrated into the new students' entrance education, and the education on the history of the Communist Party of China, the study of University history and University conditions, the study of University discipline and rules, legal safety education, mental health education, life education and other themes are carried out to guide students to form correct values.
Setting academic registration management standards
In order to standardize our student management behavior, maintain the normal order of education, teaching and life, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of students, the University has formulated the regulations on students status management. The regulations are explained in the aspects of student enrollment and registration, payment, students status verification, regulation for military recruitment, examination and grade record, elective and exemption courses, make-up examination and retake, repetition and repetition warning, transfer and change of major, suspension, reinstatement and withdrawal, graduation, completion, and partial completion, academic registration file management. The University has formulated Measures for the Management of Student ID Cards, which sets out clear requirements for the issuance, use, storage, replacement, reissuance and recycling of student ID cards.
Developing teaching policies and regulations
The University follows the principles of personality development, open innovation and characteristic cultivation and competence as the core to build a student education system with “application as the main line, competence as the core and innovation as the characteristic”. In accordance with the requirements of the National Standards for Teaching Quality of Undergraduate Programs in General Higher Education Institutions, the University adheres to the OBE (Outing-Based-Education) education concept and promotes continuous improvement through the principles of "Outing-oriented, student-centered, and continuous improvement" on the basis of fully reflecting the objectives and characteristics of the University. Based on the principles, we design the teaching process in reverse, clarify the graduation requirements, determine the training objectives and set the teaching contents. It further adjusts and optimizes the training program for applied talents, optimizes the knowledge structure, reconstructs the curriculum system, selects core courses, and clarifies the attribution of courses to form the "two platforms + N modules + 1 system" talent training model (The two platforms refer to “public basic course platform and professional basic course platform”, N module refers to “professional core course module and professional skill practice module”, and 1 system refers to “innovation education system”.)
Developing examination policies and regulations
The University sets up the examination method that reflects the objectives of the course, and the final examination is organized by the Academic Affairs Office and the colleges for two weeks at the end of term. The first week is the University-wide examination for public courses organized by the Academic Affairs Office, and the second week is the examination for specialized courses organized by the colleges, and the examination topics are developed by the corresponding secondary schools or departments. Before the examination, the Academic Affairs Office compiles the final examination Handbook for Invigilators and distributes it to all teaching units, specifying the examination time, examination room and invigilators. The comprehensive score (final score) of a course consists of the score of general performance (including performance in class and assigned work, please refer to 5.14 for details) and score of final examination (please refer to 5.12 for details). The course specification will have definition of the proportion of relevant assessment results in the comprehensive score (final score) , and the teacher will notify the students of such assessment scheme along with the corresponding course scoring standard at the beginning. The University issued the Regulations on Examination Management of JXUT, which provides detailed instructions on the requirements of examination design, printing and management of examination papers, examination qualification review, determination of examination methods, determination and management of course grades, examination discipline, determination and treatment of irregularities, and disciplinary procedures for irregularities. And after the examination, the Academic Affairs Office unifies the verification of students' grades and establishes a feedback mechanism for students to verify the grades with objections.
Meeting national higher education standards
The University went through the Validation and Review of the Ministry of Education of China. In accordance with the Undergraduate Education Teaching Audit Assessment Index System, the assessment includes the orientation and positioning of University running, cultivating plans for students, specialty construction, practical teaching, classroom teaching, innovative education, resource construction, teachers' ethics and style, teaching ability and investment, teachers' development, students' development, quality assurance and teaching effectiveness. The University set up an evaluation committee and an evaluation and construction office to write the self-evaluation report, provide supporting materials, welcome the evaluation experts selected by the Ministry of Education of China to visit the University, and carry out rectification work in response to the problems diagnosed in the evaluation. The University sets up a supervisory office to analyze and diagnose teachers' teaching and students' learning, and form assessment reports for continuous improvement.
Setting attendance standards
In order to accurately understand students' learning conditions, promote the formation of good learning environment, academic and classroom culture, and continuously improve the level of classroom management and teaching quality, the University, led by the Student Work Office, sets student attendance standards and promulgates the Regulations on the Management of Student Attendance in Jiangxi University of Technology. The attendance sampling check method, attendance rate calculation formula, attendance grade evaluation, attendance check process and requirements, reward and punishment system are clearly defined. If students need to take leave under special circumstances, they will follow the "Provisions on Student Leave of Absence of Jiangxi University of Technology". Students' attendance will be counted in the usual process grade recognition. For students whose attendance does not meet the standard, teachers may cancel students' examination qualification in accordance with the Jiangxi University of Technology Student Course Usual Grade Evaluation and Record Measures.
Developing student code of conduct
The University formulated the Classroom teaching discipline implementation measures of Jiangxi University of Technology, regulating students behavior, grooming, cell phone use etc. The University formulated the Quantitative evaluation methods for students' civilized behavior formation of Jiangxi University of Technology, student disciplinary provisions of Jiangxi University of Technology, and student quality comprehensive assessment methods of Jiangxi University of Technology. And the results of the quantitative evaluation of College Students' behavior cultivation, as an important part of the students' comprehensive quality evaluation score and an essential basis and prerequisite for the evaluation of scholarships and grants, the evaluation of excellent students, the punishment of violating discipline, and the promotion of excellent students to join the party, are included in the students' files.
Degree awarding
The University has formulated the Implementation Measures for Awarding Bachelor's Degrees to Ordinary Undergraduates of Jiangxi University of Technology, established a mechanism for cultivating students oriented by character and ability, and strict graduation standards and degree awarding standards. According to the cultivation program, all courses should be passed and the corresponding credits as well as innovation credits should be completed in order to reach the graduation standard. Qualified in moral, intellectual and physical appraisal during the study period, without any disciplinary actions. According to the actual situation of the University, the corresponding range of study years will be determined with reference to the professional study years.
Students can complete the content of education and teaching within the prescribed study period (undergraduate study period for "college-education" students), and be approved to graduate after the University's examination. The results of their course study and graduation thesis (graduation design or other graduation design links) show that they have really mastered the basic theory, expertise and basic skills of the discipline. They have the preliminary ability to engage in scientific research or to undertake specialized technical work.
The bachelor's degree shall be conferred and issued to full-time undergraduates who are registered in our university and meet our university’s related standards. If you do not meet the graduation requirements, you can extend your study time according to the University's academic year and continue your study by paying the registration fee. The University has a degree granting remedy system. Students who have not obtained a degree certificate can apply for degree remedy if they meet the regulations on degree review. After submitting to the degree evaluation committee for approval, a degree certificate can be obtained.
